Champagne & Diamonds 2012 To Benefit Clinical Skills and Simulation Center

For 2012, Champagne & Diamonds has teamed up with Graduate Medical Education and the College of Nursing in a collaborative effort to launch the brand new, state-of the-art Mount Carmel Clinical Skills and Simulation Center.

The Center will bring high-fidelity human-patient simulators and a host of other resources together under one roof and make them available to students and medical professionals across the entire system, ensuring that Mount Carmel remains a leader in learning and technology while also improving outcomes and care.

The Mount Carmel Clinical Skills and Simulation Center will feature:

  • High-fidelity human patient simulators – computer-driven, life-like mannequins that breath, blink and bleed, allowing students and clinicians to see, practice and react to real-life patient situations without the risk of consequences
  • A multi-media classroom
  • Laparoscopic surgical skills trainers
  • A simulated home environment for teaching EMS, nursing and home care professionals
  • Three high-fidelity bays for ICU/ER, OB/pediatrics, and medical/surgical simulations
  • A debriefing space with video capability to review completed simulations
  • A control unit to house servers and communication tools

The Center will:

  • Be a resource for our nursing students and medical professionals to see, practice and react to real-life patient situations
  • Allow members of our healthcare team to work and train together to develop new skills and processes, identify problems and implement patient-focused team treatment
  • Provide caregivers with the tools and onsite training to learn and grow
  • Position Mount Carmel as a place of learning and technological advancement
  • Attract more high-quality students and physicians
  • Improve outcomes and care
