Moms2B Program Improving Health for Moms, Babies

Mount Carmel West has become the newest partner site for the Moms2B Program, a new community partnership that's working to improve maternal and child health in Central Ohio.

Developed by The Ohio State University's Dr. Patricia Temple-Gabbe, the program's goals are to reduce disparities among new mothers and improve birth outcomes by providing medical and social support for pregnant moms, empowering women to improve their health and the health of their families, and establishing peer support to sustain results.

Participants meet weekly for a healthy meal; receive medical, social and peer support during their pregnancies and following the birth; learn about positive health habits; and help the staff understand the barriers to a healthy head start. Moms also have access to educational resources, including GED and job preparation assistance, preconception health support, and tips on infant care, breastfeeding, safe sleep practices and parenting.

Mount Carmel West location meets every Thursday at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Community Health Resource Center: 777 West State Street, Building 2.
