Angie Endicott’s wedding to new husband Phillip Elder was a family affair. So was Angie’s mom’s battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. And in an interesting twist, both families came together in celebration of Angie’s big day.

“In the fall and winter of 2009 and 2010, Mom received outstanding care and treatment at Mount Carmel, which put her cancer in remission,” Angie recalled. “In addition, Mount Carmel’s generous assistance helped Mom afford her treatments.”

In honor of that generosity and the commitment of her mother’s family of caregivers, Angie and Phillip decided to ask their friends to make donations to the Mount Carmel Foundation in lieu of wedding gifts.

“We are blessed with many generous friends and thought we would receive many wedding gifts,” Angie said. “When discussing our wedding gift registry, we both agreed we should acknowledge the assistance Mount Carmel provided to our family. So we provided our friends and family with the option of making a contribution to the Mount Carmel Foundation in lieu of traditional gifts, and provided a link on our wedding website to the Foundation site with instructions.”

“We were very pleased with the response,” she added, “and sincerely hope the donations made in our honor will help someone else in their time of need.”
